Lecrae Wins The 2017 BET Bobby Jones Gospel Award

lecraeLecrae took home his second BET Award for "Best Gospel/Inspirational Award".  This time for his song "Can't Stop Me Now (Destination)."  Christian Twitter felt some kind of way about his acceptance speech.  He said:

"First all I want to thank my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ."  I wouldn't be here without Him.  Everybody in that category, man, are true gospel artist.  I'm just a rapper they let in here to inspire people, man , and I'm honored to do that, man, and I'm grateful for people like Lauren Hill, for Outcast, for Chance and Kendrick using spirituality, faith and inspiration to inspire.  We're all doing that forthe same reason.  We inspire people so that's what I'm glad to do.  Thank you"  It's no secret Lecrae has said before he doesn't consider himself a Gospel artist, yet we continue to categorize him as a Holy Hip Hop Artist.

He later went to Twitter to say he forgot to thank a number of people who help make the award win possible.

This year he was up against Cece Winans, Fantasia with Tye Tribbett, Kirk Franklin with Sarah Reeves, Tasha Cobbs, and Tamela Man, and Tamela Man by herself.

Lecrae has been nominated for a BET four times and became the first rapper to win it in 2015.
